Ok, sand castles!  But I've been doing them since I was a kid, so they've gotten better! :-)

In prehistoric times, ancient Celts made Sandhenge, uh,"Stonehenge"... Some believe it was an astronomical time clock... others place of pagan worship.  Either way, it last many 500o years... or until the next high tide...

For more in formation about Stonehenge,

Then then Egyptians built the massive sand pyramids of Giza and the mysterious Sand Sphinx! :-)

And a little more recently... in Rome... The Colessandum ... er.. Colessium... was built! And yes, that's me on the motorcycle in front of the real one!

The Colosseum or Flavian Amphitheater was begun by Vespasian, inaugurated by Titus in 80 A.D. and completed by Domitian. Located on marshy land between the Esquiline and Caelian Hills, it was the first permanent amphitheater to be built in Rome. The amphitheater is a vast ellipse with tiers of seating for 50,000 spectators around a central elliptical arena. Below the wooden arena floor, there was a complex set of rooms and passageways for wild beasts and other provisions for staging the spectacles.
